FAQs

What are your service areas?

We provide inspections and engineering services for the entire Kansas City metro area and go as far West as Lawrence and as far East as Liberty, Independence, Blue Springs, Lee’s Summit and everything in between. We still travel to areas that fall outside of that service area but may need to charge an additional fee depending on mileage. Just reach out and we will give you pricing for the inspection of your home.

What can I expect at a structural or foundation inspection?

Blake will show up to your home within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. Once he gets to your home, he will have you show him your concerns or talk through your remodeling plans for your home. He will run through any necessary elevation readings, look for possible causes to your problem, and then provide you with findings and recommendations. If requested, a letter will be provided within 48 hours via email.

Do I have to be home when you perform an inspection?

We would always recommend that you be home during an inspection. While this is not a requirement, it will allow for Blake to be able to answer any questions that you may have as he is conducting the inspection. If you are not able to be there and have a question on the report, just give us a call and Blake will talk through his reasoning or provide further clarification.

What specific components will you be looking at during an inspection?

This varies depending on the type of inspection that is needed. Blake will look at anything you are concerned about and then look at cracking patterns, locations of movement, and any other damage that can be observed to make the best possible assessment of your home.

If I decide that I want a letter, what does that letter include?

The letter will be anywhere from 2 to 4 pages long. It will give a summary of what we discussed at the inspection, findings and recommendations, and a signed engineering seal. This letter can then be given to a contractor to ensure they are completing the work that was recommended.

How long does an inspection take to complete on site?

Inspections generally take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the type of inspection, the severity of the issues in the home, and how many questions the client has. We make sure to spend time with our clients to listen to your concerns and ensure you understand what to do structurally with your home moving forward.

How much will my inspection cost?

The inspection price can vary depending on the type of inspection, if a letter or drawing is needed, and travel distance. Resolve Engineering has competitive pricing based on the industry and will always provide you with the cost of your inspection before the inspection is performed. Simply fill out the form on the website or give us a call and we will provide a price for your inspection.

Why do you charge when others will come out for free?

The contractors that are coming out for free are generally trying to sell you a product. Blake is a licensed Professional Engineer and his only goal is to provide you with the most accurate and cost-effective solution. He usually saves clients much more than his fee by avoiding unnecessary repairs.

What is the cost & timeline for my engineered plans?

The price and timeline for engineered plans varies depending on the scope of the project. In general, Resolve Engineering provides competitive pricing and we strive to provide quick turnaround times and meet our deadlines. Give us a call to discuss the specifics of your project and we will provide a price and timeline for your plans.
